Principal’s Message

From the Desk of the Principal of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Animal HusbandryCollege

In the economy of Rajasthan, livestock plays a significant role. Rajasthan accounts for 10% of the total livestock in the country and produces 35% of the total wool, contributing about 10% to the country’s milk production. Additionally, it ranks fourth in meat production. Presently, about 11% of Rajasthan’s population depends on livestock for livelihood. Products from livestock, such as milk, meat, and wool, are important sources of nutrition and economic development, which highlights the immense potential of livestock management in ensuring food security and employment opportunities.

In this context, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Animal Husbandry College is affiliated with Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (RAJUVAS), Bikaner. This college offers the Livestock Diploma Course, which has a duration of two years. The course is open to students who have passed their 10+2 (Science or Agriculture) with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates). Admissions are granted based on a merit list prepared by RAJUVAS.

The curriculum includes theoretical and practical training in livestock healthcare, animal husbandry, poultry farming, goat farming, and artificial insemination techniques. Additionally, students are introduced to the latest innovations and technologies in livestock management.

Beyond academics, the institution encourages students to participate in cultural activities, sports competitions, and other extracurricular events. Special scholarships and government schemes are provided for students belonging to SC/ST/BPL/Minority categories.

The institute is equipped with modern laboratories and advanced teaching facilities. The aim is to prepare students to work at senior positions in the livestock department or as independent entrepreneurs in the field of animal husbandry.

The institution has an impressive track record of achievements. For instance, in 2021, Pooja, a student from the college, secured third place in the state-level entrance examination for the Livestock Diploma program with 93.25%. The institute actively organizes awareness campaigns during the outbreaks of diseases like Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). Students and faculty members participate in providing guidance to villagers and livestock owners about prevention and treatment measures.

The college is committed to the holistic development of its students and aims to ensure their success in both professional and personal spheres. It continues to serve as a beacon of knowledge and innovation in livestock management.”
